Experience & Education (Required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering or equivalent, with graduate degree strongly preferred; must be a CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist).
  • 10 years of HSE experience with 5 years of expertise in the IH field.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of applicable HSE regulations, concepts and trends and ability to understand and interpret complex mandatory regulations and their impact on the global operation.
  • Must have and maintain Certified Industrial Hygienist status

 

Job Summary

 

The Certified Industrial Hygienist works with site safety management to maintain health, and safety programs, to include policies, processes, procedures and controls. Ensures contract performance conforms to established published exposure standards under AHERA and OSHA.

 

Principal Accountabilities

  • Develops and maintains Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health Programs.
  • Assure the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the technical Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and related aspects of the Operational Integrity management system, programs and processes locally.
  • Develops “fit for purpose” training plans and programs and ensures their local implementation.
  • Identifies Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health management best practices throughout the group and deploys them within the workplace.
  • Serves as subject matter expert for Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health on USAG KA.
  • Performs on-site industrial hygiene qualitative and quantitative assessments, evaluations of potential hazards, exposure scenarios and exposure variables.
  • Documents and maintains required occupational health and industrial hygiene operational records and procedures to ensure company and employee awareness, comprehension and adherence to approved health and safety practices for assigned program.
  • Manages the occupational health/industrial hygiene audits of contract operations and subcontractors.
  • Examine and evaluate occupational exposures to workplace conditions potentially affecting worker health and safety and provide recommendations on improving the safety of workers.
  • Document occupational health/industrial hygiene inspections, surveillance, and formal audits to ensure compliance with program requirements and as mandated by applicable local, state, federal and host country (RMI) regulations.
  • Provides response to customer concerns and findings. Tracks corrective actions taken in response to internal and customer audit findings to ensure a safe and healthful working environment, and appropriate worker protection (PPE).
  • Compliance with CAL and Federal OSHA requirements to include worker exposure issues such as noise (auditory), inhalation (respiratory), BBP (bloodborne pathogens) etc.
  • Conduct technical research to assess and mitigate risk to chemical exposure, noise exposure, air quality issues, ergonomics, radiation and other potential exposure risk issues.
  • Develop (if necessary) and implement training programs on occupational health issues in accordance with the EHS management plan and include program-specific training in support of the workforce and work conducted.
  • Acts as a direct representative to the customer
  • Compiles and communicates program metrics as needed.
  • Maintains awareness of regulatory changes and disseminates safety-related bulletins, technical changes and literature to work site personnel.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of industrial hygiene and sampling equipment
  • Experience with PPE validation including respiratory PAPRs, FFAPRs and HFAPRs
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver training programs.
  • Experience in fit testing.
  • Experience in certification of compressed supplied air systems.
  • Experience in Lead and Asbestos negative assessment survey documentation.
  • Strong analytical expertise to determine trends.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications including Word, Project, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint
  • Experience in working in a customer-oriented professional environment.
  • Must be detail-oriented on accuracy of presentation materials.
  • Ability to verbally communicate technical concepts in concise and engaging training sessions, both in person or via remote conferencing.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments, work with little supervision and work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Subject Matter Experts to incorporate technical requirements into training materials, operational policies, plans and procedures, and performance reports and metrics

  • Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
  • Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
  • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
